SSL/TLS certificate

Updated 30.10.2026 · 1-minute read

An SSL (strictly, TLS) certificate proves that a site belongs to its domain and enables encrypted HTTPS. Without it, browsers show “Not secure”.

Since 15 March 2026, public certificates are issued for at most 200 days; from 15 March 2027 the limit is 100 days and from 15 March 2029 it is 47 days, under CA/Browser Forum Ballot SC-081v3. Renewals therefore have to be automated or closely watched.
